Bloggin is a new art for me, so bear with me!

 

At the beginning of the month, I delivered a Human Trafficking seminar for 90 people at Surrey Police HQ, this was a good event with some great interaction from those in attendance. In December this year I will be running a specialist seminar on Human Trafficking at the NWG HQ, so keep an eye out for details about this, which will be coming out soon!

 

We are very excited about the NWG Network conference, which will be taking place in March next year. I have been tasked with organising the venue, so this week, Cheryl and I went to visit Warwick University to have a look at their facilities. After spending some time looking at the various spaces, we decided this would be a good venue for our conference and booked it. Roll on March!

 

Part of my role at the NWG is help advise around issues of law enforcement, so I have spent some time this month with members of a local project helping to review some of the current cases they are involved in. As well as this I had a meeting with members of the policing college to advise on CSE legislation and the Trafficking of Human Beings.

 

Our work with LSCB’s is an important element of what we do across the team and this month I met with the independent chair of Slough LSCB and the Chair of CSE sub group and the Engage team to discuss CSE training and awareness raising in their areas’. In addition to this Sheila and I conducted a workshop at Dudley’s LSCB conference.

 

This month’s Police forum had about 50 police officers from around the UK in attendance. This is a good opportunity to look at effective practice around the country in CSE and Trafficking work, as well as having opportunity to discuss the barriers and challenges in a closed environment.

 

A couple of days after , Sheila and I were boarding a plane heading up and out to Northern Ireland with to visit the Department of Health, Social Services & Public Safety. Later in the day we managed to visit a Barnardos Project in NI, great to see the good work that is going on.

 

Finally this month I got to go and see the new home of PACE in Leeds and then had a great meeting with the directors of Thoughts of Others ltd private children’s homes.

 

All in a month’s work!
