Hours : 28 hours a week fixed term 12 months

Salary: £21,000 – £24,500 (pro rata & dependent on experience)

Rebuild East Midlands provides post NRM support to individuals who have experienced human trafficking and modern slavery to rebuild their lives in the community. We have an exciting opportunity for someone with the right skills, empathy and experience to take our work forward and take on the role of Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator. This role is a dual role overseeing both the volunteer strategy within the charity but also the community aspect of the project. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, be able to work autonomously and have experience in supporting individuals and groups, supporting and training volunteers and organising events and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Volunteer Co-ordinator responsibilities:

· The Volunteer Co-ordinator will recruit, train, match and support our volunteers as they support individuals who have experienced Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery. The role is critical in ensuring that we provide high quality support, guidance, training and development opportunities to all volunteers. It requires excellent understanding of delivering a broad range of volunteering opportunities and an ability to oversee the activities of a team of volunteers working across the city and county.

Community Engagement responsibilities:

· Work with local communities, groups, volunteers and third-party organisations to promote social inclusion and identify new activities/community groups that individuals can be part of.

· Networking and building partnerships with local organisations and professionals to enhance the work of Rebuild in the local community

· To organise and promote community activities for the individuals we work with to facilitate social inclusion

· Monitor and encourage attendance to both inhouse activities and in the wider community

· Conducting Risk Assessments

· Consulting and motivating participation from those we work with in planning and activities

· Working in a trauma informed manner

General duties and responsibilities:

· Keep accurate records for monitoring and evaluation purposes

· Some weekend and evening work may be required

· Make an active contribution to the overall work of Rebuild through team meetings, staff training, awareness and fundraising events, and any other appropriate activities

· Keep up to date with all organisational procedures, policies and professional codes of conduct and work towards best practice.

In the right candidate we are looking for someone who is able to evidence the following:

· At least 3 years previous experience working with either:

o Individuals who have experienced Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery modern or;

o Vulnerable adults

· Previous experience in managing, training and supervising volunteers

· Previous experience coordinating, planning and running group work and activities for vulnerable individuals

· Previous experience of networking and building working partnerships with external agencies

· An empathetic and compassionate outlook, whilst being able to maintain professional boundaries with those you work with

· Able to react effectively to highly pressured situations

· Strong communication and organisational skills

· Be discreet and work in accordance with the Data Protection Act

· Experience of working with people from different cultures and backgrounds and an understanding of cultural diversity & equal opportunities

· Understand safeguarding relating to the protection of children/vulnerable adults

· Valid employment rights to work in the UK

· The post holder will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
