Safer Streets Funding 

Yesterday, forty areas across England and Wales were awarded £18.3 million to make our streets safer. The third round of the Safer Streets Fund also opened yesterday, providing another opportunity to bid from a fund of £25 million for 2021/22.

The next round of funding will encourage police to secure innovative bids for plans primarily focused on helping make women and girls feel safer on the streets, as well as projects which could include an emphasis on changing attitudes and behaviours in local communities.

Women’s Health Strategy call for evidence: closes 13 June  

The call for evidence to better understand women’s experiences of the health and care system in England closes on 13 June. The consultation will form the basis of a landmark government-led Women’s Health Strategy, to improve the health and wellbeing of women across England and place women’s voices at the centre of their care.

Protect Duty consultation: closes 2 July  

The Protect Duty delivers on a commitment to improving the safety and security of public venues and spaces, including sports venues, festivals, pubs, places of worship, schools and universities. We are seeking views from the public and businesses on how the Government can use legislation to make the public safer from terrorist attacks at publicly accessible locations.

Campaign materials 

The Home Office is still running a number of campaigns in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

• #YouAreNotAlone aims to raise awareness and signpost to information and support available for victims, family/friends and perpetrators of domestic abuse. We are currently running a new phase of paid marketing to signpost support to those who will need help and assistance in the coming months.
  • On GOV.UK there is full guidance and easy read guidance on getting help for Domestic Abuse.
  • Campaign materials and updated assets, including a partner pack and translated assets, are available to download.
• The Ask for ANI codeword scheme is operating in independent, Boots and Superdrug pharmacies. Posters and social media assets are available to download. For more information, materials or to provide feedback, please email [email protected].
• The Community Safeguarding Leaflet contains information and guidance for those who are still operating in communities to recognise the signs of abuse or neglect. The guidance covers signs to spot and what to do if there is a concern.

Advice Line service review 

Respect published a service review for the Men’s Advice Line, which found demand for the helpline in 2020-21 increased by 57% compared to the previous year. The Service Review documents the ways the service adapted, and continues to adapt, to the challenges posed by Covid-19.

Employers Domestic Abuse Covenant – Nationwide Roll Out

The Employers Domestic Abuse Covenant is a pledge by businesses to support women affected by abuse to enter or re-enter the workplace. This Covenant has now been extended across England to encourage all private, public and third sector organisations to sign up.  You can watch this short video for more information or request a callback.
