New statistics show there were 6 million applications to the EU Settlement Scheme by 30 June 2021, securing EU citizens’ rights in the UK.

The EU Settlement Scheme is a free scheme which enables EU, other EEA and Swiss citizens resident in the UK by the end of the transition period on 31 December 2020, and their family members, to obtain the status they will require in order to live and work in the UK.

We have published non-exhaustive guidance on reasonable grounds for making a late EUSS application, and will take a pragmatic and flexible approach to considering these.

Protect Duty consultation: closes 11:45pm tonight

The Protect Duty delivers on a commitment to improve the safety and security of public venues and spaces, including sports venues, festivals, pubs, places of worship, schools and universities. We are seeking views from the public and businesses on how the Government can use legislation to make the public safer from terrorist attacks at publicly accessible locations. The deadline for responses is tonight (2 July). You can respond to the consultation online, in writing or by emailing [email protected].

Helpline for those who have experienced sexual harassment or abuse in education

A new UK wide dedicated helpline has been set up by the NSPCC and the Department for Education to support those who may have been subjected to unwanted sexual behaviour or abuse whilst in an education setting. The helpline is equipped to cover personal incidents or concerns for others, and for both recent and historical events. We would really appreciate your help to promote the helpline and have included social media assets you can share on your channels and with your networks.

The Home Office is still running campaigns in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

• #YouAreNotAlone aims to raise awareness and signpost to information and support available for victims, family/friends and perpetrators of domestic abuse. We are currently running a phase of marketing, including radio adverts on community channels, to signpost support to those who will need help and assistance in the coming months.

  • Campaign materials and updated assets, including a partner pack and translated assets, are available to download.

• The Community Safeguarding Leaflet contains information and guidance for those who are still operating in communities to recognise the signs of abuse or neglect. The guidance covers signs to spot and what to do if there is a concern.

Drive releases short film about perpetrators and domestic abuse 

Helen’s Story is a six-minute film about how a perpetrator-focused intervention changed the life of ‘Helen’, a victim/survivor of domestic abuse. The film shows how interventions that focus on changing the behaviour of the perpetrator, working alongside strong victim support services, can #StopTheAbuseChangeTheStory.

Redthread launches organisational strategy, ‘Scaling Impact’

Redthread has launched an ambitious five-year strategy to scale the impact of its work across the UK. While turning young lives around by delivering gold standard youth violence intervention programmes remains a priority, Scaling Impact also lays out plans to pilot new innovative ways to support young people experiencing or at risk of violence, and to share insights from the frontline to promote system change.
