Response to rape overhauled Last week, the Government unveiled sweeping reforms to increase the number of rape cases reaching court while bolstering support for victims. Protect Duty consultation: closes 2 July 2021 The Protect Duty delivers on a commitment to improve the safety and security of public venues and spaces, including sports venues, festivals, pubs, places of worship, schools and universities. We are seeking views from the public and businesses on how the Government can use legislation to make the public safer from terrorist attacks at publicly accessible locations. You can respond to the consultation online, in writing or by emailing [email protected]. Stakeholder news and campaigns New helpline for those who have experienced sexual harassment or abuse in education A new UK wide dedicated helpline has been set up by the NSPCC and the Department for Education to support those who may have been subjected to unwanted sexual behaviour or abuse whilst in an education setting. The helpline is equipped to cover personal incidents or concerns for others, and for both recent and historical events. We would really appreciate your help to promote the helpline and have included social media assets you can share on your channels and with your networks. Locked down and locked in: Respect Phoneline responds to perpetrators during Covid-19 Respect has launched a report on the service provided by the Respect Phoneline in 2020-21, during the Covid-19 pandemic. The report details how perpetrators’ help-seeking was changing and how the Respect Phoneline team responded to meet the changing needs of the service users. |
