Most of us experience trauma in our lifetimes. Practitioners in health and social care settings often work with adults and families who are in crisis, experience complex needs with histories of trauma.
This interactive course supports practitioners to explore how past experiences, relationships,
intersectionality, and context affect current ways of being, relationships and interactions. The course includes strategies that will support direct work with individuals. Importantly there is also a focus on practitioner wellbeing and strategies that can support practitioners and organisational resilience.

Throughout the year, SAFE offers specialised courses and short workshops concerning key safeguarding topics to help professionals & volunteers further their professional development (CPD).
Learning Outcomes:
Understand the causes and different types of trauma:
-Definitions and terminology.
-Intersectionality – privilege and power.
Explore Impact of Trauma on people:
-Recognizing trauma responses.
-Exploring the impact of different types of losses.
Develop skills for responding to people in a trauma-informed way
-Exploration of Trauma Informed principles and behaviours and how these
apply to my working context.
-Exploration of safety and stabilization strategies.
Trauma Informed Organisations:
-Exploring vicarious trauma and stress and the impact on Practitioners.
-Exploration of Vicarious resilience, hope, meaning and self care.
Setting intentions for future practice.
