Managing Vicarious Trauma, Burnout and Staff Retention

18th May 2023. Register for your place.

The Human Trafficking Foundation is hosting a forum to explore secondary trauma, burnout and staff retention among frontline workers.

CQC’s recent inspection of safehouse and outreach support services under the Modern Slavery Victim Care Contract highlighted that while the workforce is comprised of dedicated and caring individuals, high turnover issues had implications for the quality of survivor support.

Discussing practical coping strategies that have tangible effects on staff well-being and retention, the forum intends to provide a purposeful resource for frontline workers and their employers to best support themselves and each other.

Our panel will comprise of:

  •  Rosie Riley and Laura Wood from the VITA Network, sharing their expertise surrounding basic trauma science, exemplified their own secondary trauma experiences.
  • Anya Charnaud, a senior trauma psychotherapist, shares practical insight into self-care and burnout prevention strategies.
  • Nahja Martin, Senior Thrive Specialist at the Sanar Wellness Institute, discusses her expertise on trauma-informed workplace wellness in the Human Trafficking sector.
  • Lara Bundock and Iris Winkel, CEO and Counselling Manager of Snowdrop, provide a senior management perspective discussing leading by example and good practice in the prevention of burnout and high staff turnover.

There will also be time to join the discussion and ask questions.
