The call for evidence is now open and closes August 14th.
IICSA Changemakers will be putting in a collaborative submission with the intent on displaying to Government the key areas to be cognisant of in this space and unintended consequences to potential decisions.
The call covers 5 areas:

• Who the duty should apply to,
• Should it cover known or suspected incidents,
• Consequences and exceptions,
• Protections for reporters,
• Interaction with wider reform programmes such as stable homes built on love.

CALL FOR EVIDENCE June 2023

Co-ordinated by the NSPCC, IICSA Changemakers are a group of like-minded
organisations that have united across the sectors to inspire a national mission to
prevent child sexual abuse and provide much improved support to victims and
survivors.
All IICSA Changemaker organisations contribute to the successful running of the
group by investing their time, expertise and access to networks. We are grateful for
financial support offered by the NSPCC, the Internet Watch Foundation, the
Children’s Society and Barnardo’s, though this is not a prerequisite to being a
Changemaker and the group is still open to those wishing to collaborate.
On May 22nd the Government published their report in response to the IICSA Final
recommendation paper.

The Government have stated that they have accepted 19 of the 20 recommendations
issued by the inquiry, however IICSA Changemakers, like others, believe the number
of recommendations to have acceptance, movement or action is significantly lower.
Key work areas over the coming weeks
IICSA Changemakers will be working over three core areas ensuring that the voice of
the survivor remains key as policies are designed and services developed. Using the
well-established networks of the NWG all work will be co-developed and tested.
IICSA Changemakers remain open to engaging all Government departments as the
details of further calls for evidence or consultations are launched as well as
contributing to the current Mandatory Reporting call for evidence.

The IICSA Changemakers will be monitoring the areas where action has been
committed, suggesting approaches for the areas with no movement and
challenging responses that suggest there is already sufficient efforts currently in
place.
