The Violence Reduction Academy, hosted by NHS London Violence Reduction Programme, is excited to invite you to our first learning event- ‘An Introduction to a Health-Based Approach to Reducing Violence in Communities’.

‘An Introduction to a Health-Based Approach to Reducing Violence in Communities’ will be hosted via webinar on Thursday 1 February 2024  from 11 am to 12:30 pm and is aimed at healthcare professionals across all levels and roles. Attendees will hear talks from experts outlining:

• What role does healthcare play in the prevention and reduction of violence?
• What impact this has on communities?
• How to use a trauma-informed approach to support people affected by violence.
• Personal experiences of accessing and delivering health-led violence reduction services.

The learning event will be moderated by Martin P Griffiths CBE DL SFFMLM who is the Clinical Director for Violence Reduction at NHS England (London) and a Consultant Trauma and Vascular Surgeon at the Royal London Hospital.

The NHS Violence Reduction Academy was launched earlier this year to establish an evidence base to inform and promote the delivery of sustainable violence reduction initiatives for London. A key objective is to synthesise the evidence for health and social care systems, supporting them to embed violence reduction models into local practice. The Violence Reduction Academy has partnered with Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) to develop our understanding of the evidence and enable shared learning across the NHS and wider.
