Wrapping Up a Year of Impact 2024

Each year, the collective efforts of our network – individuals and organisations alike – continue to surpass expectations, making a tangible difference for those affected by exploitation and harm.![]() As another year draws to a close, we reflect on the remarkable achievements and impact we have made together at NWG. We deeply value the work we do alongside you, from strengthening partnerships to enhancing knowledge and supporting service improvements. Collaborating with so many dedicated individuals has been an honour, and we eagerly anticipate even greater strides in the year ahead.This year, we have especially valued the opportunity to work with those who have lived through exploitation. Amplifying your voices across the UK – and even internationally – has brought profound and transformative feedback. Thank you for sharing your experiences, which have been instrumental in shaping our collective progress.As we look to the future, we are committed to ensuring that lived experiences continue to guide and influence meaningful developments.The holiday season offers a chance to pause, rest, and take time to recharge in the company of friends and family.For those who find this season challenging, we wish you peace, comfort, and the strength to embrace the coming year. Wishing each one of you a wonderful Christmas and continued success in the New Year!2024 Highlights January Hosted an event enabling OFCOM decision-makers to hear directly from strategic and operational practitioners on mandatory reporting.Published a 7-Minute Briefing for frontline practitioners: “The NRM and Transitioning into Adulthood.” (1,580 downloads) February Began work with the Director of Communication for London Sport, an Active Partnership covering 32 London Boroughs to promote safeguarding in sport.Partnership working on #Focusonfamilies March Celebrated our 10th anniversary of Child Exploitation Awareness Day and the amazing progress of this day is it is now embedded in most local authority and policing dairies as an annual event with over 4000 accessing our package of resources and key messages Child Exploitation Awareness Day was marked with the launch of the 7-Minute Bystander Briefing and Volunteer Training for Faith organisations. April Facilitated the IICSA Changemakers consultation event with strategic and operational practitioners on mandatory reporting with our network. ![]() May A busy month for the team pulling together the learning from over 60 MACE observations into a future learning event and new offer to areas and partnerships . This has gone on to generate a great deal of interest for MACE reviews in 2025. June Hosted the launch of Creating Futures: Sheffield Hallam framework for positive outcomes.Launched a Missing and Transition into Adulthood self-assessment tool with the National Police Chiefs’ Council, Missing People and The Children’s Society at the NPCC National Missing Conference. July Released a multi-agency child exploitation briefing, sharing key learnings from our observations of these meetings.Published a joint statement on Ofcom’s approach to online safety under the Online Safety Act. August Introduced a new membership scheme to strengthen our network. September Attended and participated in the APPG Safeguarding in Faith event at WestminsterHosted a neurodiversity in exploitation event with over 220 delegates and released the Neurodiversity in Exploitation briefing paper.Launched the Voices in Sports animations, films and documents to enhance safeguarding in sports and leisure activities. October Contributed to discussions with the Department of Education at a Westminster event on challenges in out-of-school settings.Presented at the MASH Community of Practice event hosted by the DHSC.Began commissioned consultation work with our network of survivors.Spoke at the Devon Safeguarding Partnership Conference. November Attended and contributed to the first national Spiritual and Ritual Abuse (SARA) Conference.Spoke at the Brighton and Hove Safeguarding Conference. December Launched the Faith Animation project.Engaged in collaborative efforts with the US Embassy. ![]() |
