New chief executive search under way

| Tim Hollingsworth will step down from his position at the end of July Chief executive to stand down this summer Tim Hollingsworth will leave the organisation at the end of July 2025 After more than six years in the role, Tim Hollingsworth has decided to conclude his time as chief executive of Sport England and will step down in July. Between now and then, he’ll work to finalise our key strategic priorities, including negotiations with the Government as part of the Comprehensive Spending Review process and continued delivery of Uniting the Movement. The search for Tim’s successor has already begun and is being led by Helen Soulsby and David James at Elevate Talent – you can find out more and express your interest. Ways for National Lottery-funded venues to thank players National Lottery Open Week is returning on 15-23 March 2025 and we’re encouraging Lottery-funded sport and physical activity venues to take part. The week is a way for organisations funded by the National Lottery to thank players for the £30 million raised for good causes every week by offering free entry, discounts and special offers. How alternative sport providers are filling a gap Key practices of organisations who are supporting under-represented groups We’ve published the results of our research over the last year into alternative and parallel sport organisations and structures, and their role in tackling inequalities. These groups, often founded by and for marginalised communities, fill gaps in mainstream sport by creating inclusive environments where people feel welcome and able to be their authenticselves. Covid-19 Day of Reflection planned It takes place in March and marks five years since the pandemic began Sunday 9 March 2025 is the Day of Reflection across the UK for the Covid-19 pandemic.
