The East Riding continues to maintain their monthly MACE and Missing and runaway response group meetings with partners throughout the county via the platform of Media Windows or conference call which the majority of partners have access to . For partners who are not in attendance we are able to get a written update to ensure our safeguarding measures remain robust . We recently held our missing meeting remotely through the more traditional methods of a conference call between ourselves and police colleagues which was a very constructive and timely meeting.

Contextual Meetings have been placed on hold as a temporary measure and will be reviewed in three weeks. Members continue to be updated and consulted on any matters of concern. This arrangement effectively enables both strategic and operational decision making to continue.

RHIs are being completed via telephone contact:; practitioners speak with young people to check on well-being and explore the missing episode in detail. We are also seeing the benefits of discussions with parents, particularity around intelligence gathering and information that creates a chronology of events. In turn relevant pathways of support are identified to address the wider family need . Our Police Early Intervention Teams and volunteers from children’s services are completing detached youth sessions in the communities with the aim of to reducing missing episodes.

Work with our families is ongoing and essential visits are being undertaken to children, young people and their families. Strategy meetings have also enabled us to become creative through the usage of Media windows .In relation to Child Protection conferences, where possible and appropriate, conference calls are arranged . Young people continue to be invite to attend or contribute to Children Looked After Reviews if they agree and their personal circumstance allow.

Working with our voluntary sector has seen the development of a virtual youth centre where a specific page has been created for parents, carers and professionals including signposting to relevant pathways of support.

Our temporary arrangements are accessible to all our colleagues and promoted through the East Riding Safeguarding Children’s website.
