DRAGON-Shield Launch

DRAGON-Shield, a Swansea University Project funded by the End Violence Against Children Safe Online Fund is a interactive multi-media portal

The NWG are delighted to host the launch of DRAGON-Shield – an interactive, multimedia training platform that can strengthen child safeguarding practitioners’ ability to prevent children from being sexually groomed online. The platform has been developed by Project DRAGON-S (https://www.swansea.ac.uk/project-dragon-s/), a Swansea University research project primarily funded by the Safe Online Initiative at End Violence (https://www.end-violence.org/safe-online)

The launch is aimed at child safeguarding practitioners and key sector representatives

The purpose of the event is to:

  • Introduce Project DRAGON-S and provide an overview of the 2x DRAGON-S tools created and the overarching project objectives (i.e. why such tools are needed).
  • Introduce DRAGON-Shield tool: what is it, what it does and how it meets the overarching project objectives.
  • Outline development to date.
  • Demonstrate DRAGON-Shield (animation)
  • Provide an overview of the 2023 DRAGON-Shield pilot study, evaluation and results.
  • Include video/live testimonials from previous DRAGON-Shield trainees.
  • Outline how DRAGON-Shield complements the DRAGON-Spotter tool for law enforcement use.
  • What is to come: how to register interest for 2024 DRAGON-Shield training, future development of DRAGON-Shield.

DRAGON-Shield is *now* available to practitioners to train on.

Attendees of the event will be offered priority places for DRAGON-Shield training in 2024.
