NWG Police & Justice Forum will be facilitated by colleagues at NWG Network

The forum runs on a quarterly basis and provides a variety of speakers within the field of Police and Justice.

The focus of each session will be to consider current challenges, themes and trends in respect of Child Exploitation; they will enable members to discuss specific issues and challenges within a safe and neutral space whilst also providing a platform for local, regional, national and international networking opportunities.

The aim of this Police and Justice Forum is to provide an opportunity to hear about the innovative and creative practice that is happening in different parts of the UK, to strengthen our collective response to tackle Violence Against Women and Girls.

We are thrilled to announce our first keynote speaker for the upcoming Police and Justice Forum – Detective Chief Superintendent Zara Brown, Bedfordshire Police.

Detective Chief Superintendent Zara Brown joined policing in 2001 and has nearly 25 years’ experience, primarily as a Detective across a wide range of crime areas, with a strong focus on public protection. She is currently the Bedfordshire Police lead for Male Violence Against Women and Girls (MVAWG) and Operation Soteria, driving improvements for victims of rape and serious sexual offences. Zara also chairs the Blue Bell Working Group, tackling workplace sexual misconduct and promoting a safer organisational culture, and is a passionate advocate for supporting women and underrepresented groups through mentoring and leadership.

We are delighted to announce our next speaker for the Police & Justice Forum – Tracey Watkinson, Partnership & Safeguarding Manager with the NPCC Hydrant Programme and the Child Sexual Exploitation Taskforce, the national policing programme established to strengthen the response to child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Tracey leads on strategic partnerships and safeguarding development, working across policing, local authorities, health, education, and the voluntary sector to improve multi-agency responses to complex and high-harm abuse. Tracey supports forces and partners to embed learning from inspections, inquiries and survivor testimony into frontline practice and system leadership.

With extensive safeguarding experience, she is committed to translating national strategy into practice, sustainable change for children and young people. Ensuring that victim’s voices shape policy, partnership drives impact and outcomes and learning results in measurable improvement.
