NWG Police and Justice Forum Organised by NWG

Online

The legacy and impact of using ‘victim blaming’ language for the victims/survivors, and their families, who have experienced exploitation.

The New Year’s NWG Police and Justice Forum will be an opportunity to reflect on the amazing work that has been done by us, our members and our partners, throughout 2024.

In addition, we will look forward and focus on developing practice, specifically concerning the “legacy and impact of using ‘victim blaming’ language” for the victims/survivors, and their families, who have experienced exploitation.

During 2024, we have been providing training, webinars and platforms for discussion groups that have considered the alternatives to using ‘victim blaming’ language and becoming aware of the wider impact it has on our responses to victims/survivors of Exploitation and their journey to recovery.

We are extremely grateful to be able to welcome back our independent chair for the event, Detective Ch/Insp Andy Grant from the Metropolitan Police. Andy is the Lead for Modern Slavery and Child Exploitation (MSCE) Teams, Central Specialist Crime; he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in Public Protection & the practicalities surrounding victim-blaming language and the wider impact within criminal investigations.

We are very excited to announce that we will have two additional speakers on this very important subject and Pav, our NWG Network Faith Lead, will be sharing a new resource that she has developed with her Faith Network.

We would ask that if you have one particular theme for the forum discussion, you email Lin ([email protected])
