Response to rape overhauled

Last week, the Government unveiled sweeping reforms to increase the number of rape cases reaching court while bolstering support for victims.

Protect Duty consultation: closes 2 July 2021

The Protect Duty delivers on a commitment to improve the safety and security of public venues and spaces, including sports venues, festivals, pubs, places of worship, schools and universities. We are seeking views from the public and businesses on how the Government can use legislation to make the public safer from terrorist attacks at publicly accessible locations. The Home Office is still running a number of campaigns in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

• #YouAreNotAlone aims to raise awareness and signpost to information and support available for victims, family/friends and perpetrators of domestic abuse. We are currently running a new phase of paid marketing to signpost support to those who will need help and assistance in the coming months.
  • On GOV.UK there is full guidance, including easy read and guidance in British Sign Language on getting help for Domestic Abuse
  • Campaign materials, including translated assets, are available to download.
• The Ask for ANI codeword scheme is operating in independent, Boots and Superdrug pharmacies. Posters and social media assets are available to download. For more information, materials or to provide feedback, please email [email protected].
• The Community Safeguarding Leaflet contains information and guidance for those who are still operating in communities to recognise the signs of abuse or neglect. The guidance covers signs to spot and what to do if there is a concern.

New helpline for those who have experienced sexual harassment or abuse in education

A new UK wide dedicated helpline has been set up by the NSPCC and the Department for Education to support those who may have been subjected to unwanted sexual behaviour or abuse whilst in an education setting. The helpline is equipped to cover personal incidents or concerns for others, and for both recent and historical events. We would really appreciate your help to promote the helpline and have included social media assets you can share on your channels and with your networks.

Locked down and locked in: Respect Phoneline responds to perpetrators during Covid-19

Respect has launched a report on the service provided by the Respect Phoneline in 2020-21, during the Covid-19 pandemic. The report details how perpetrators’ help-seeking was changing and how the Respect Phoneline team responded to meet the changing needs of the service users.
