New educational resources looking at reliability online launched for Safer Internet Day 2021 

With just over two months to go until Safer Internet Day, we are delighted to announce that we have launched the Safer Internet Day Educational resources!

This year our educational resources are focussing on the theme of reliability online and how we can work together to create #AnInternetWeTrust. The free resources explore how young people can separate fact from fiction and are tailored for 3-7s, 7-11s, 11-14s, 14-18s and parents and carers, along with guidance for educators.

To accompany the resources, there is also a range of short films for 5-11s, 11-18s, parents and carers, as well as a campaign film outlining the theme of the Day.

The Safer Internet Day supporters list is now live! Join over 100 organisations that have already registered their support; their logos are now displayed on the UK Safer Internet Centre website. We’ll regularly update the list with new supporters over the coming months, so register now to see your organisation featured on the map.

Launching on the 3rd of December – the Childnet STAR Toolkit

The STAR Toolkit is a free and adaptable online safety learning resource for use with young people with special educational needs in key stage 3 or 4. The Toolkit equips, enables and empowers educators with the knowledge they need to support young people who have special educational needs when they are online. Watch our short trailer for the toolkit here.

Further places you can go for help and support

For young people – Depending on the age of your child there are a range of places they can go for help, for younger children they can call Childline for help and support, and for older children The Mix offer free and practical advice.

For parents and carers – The O2 and NSPCC helpline can help you with any questions or concerns you may have about keeping your child safe online. They can provide you with advice and help to troubleshoot any problems your family may be facing. You can also take a look at our collection of resources you can use from home.

For educators or professionals -The Professionals Online Safety Helpline continues to operate Monday to Friday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. This helpline can assist with any online safety issues or concerns that any professional working with children and young people may have. For help and support, please email [email protected]
