Devolving Child Decision-Making Pilot Programme

The 10 Local Authority Pilot sites that were successful in the initial bid to take over devolved decision-making for potential child victims of modern slavery have now been operational for just over a year and we are pleased to confirm that all 10 Pilot sites extended their grants to run into 2023. The Home Office Analysis and Insight Team are working in partnership with Ipsos Mori, our external evaluation partner, to evaluate the Pilot and we are expecting the final evaluation findings in August this year. The interim findings have been positive, and we are hopeful the final report will be also.? 

We are now looking to expand the Pilot to further test the model. We aim to recruit a further 10 Pilot sites via another fair and open competition in September with the new sites going live in January 2023. As before, any local authority with responsibility for children’s social care will be eligible to make a bid either as an individual site or as part of a consortium. Pre-market engagement is ongoing, so please keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities to hear more about the Pilot and how to make a bid.

The Modern Slavery Innovation Fund

The Modern Slavery Innovation Fund (MSIF) was publicly announced in October 2016 and contributes to the UK’s delivery of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal target 8.7 of eradicating modern slavery and human trafficking by 2030. Phase 3 of the Modern Slavery Innovation Fund is now open for bids from civil society organisations to enable the delivery of multiple ODA-eligible projects to support the goal of reducing the prevalence of modern slavery internationally.
