NWG 4th Annual Conference & Unsung Hero Awards

In case you haven’t heard…we’re looking forward to our NWG 4th Annual Conference & Unsung Hero Awards next month and we hope you and your colleagues are able to join us.
The Conference will feature a programme of 56 Special Interest Groups as well as Keynote Presentations from Professor Alexis Jay and Karen Leach.
Our Conference allows everyone working in this field to see what others are doing and to develop a day that allows each person to fill the gaps in their knowledge by tailor making this event to suit themselves. Our Conference also differs from most as the Special Interest Groups are discussion focused.

Keynote Speakers
Professor Alexis Jay
Alexis was appointed to the Panel of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse in 2015. She was appointed as Chair of the Inquiry by the Home Secretary in August 2016.
Karen Leach
Karen is a former swimmer with the Kings Hospital Swimming club in Dublin, Ireland and has spoken out about the effects of her abuse by Irish Olympic coach Derry O’Rourke. Karen is a very articulate and powerful advocate for the prevention of abuse in sport, safeguarding children and the importance of child welfare, protection policies and procedures.

Unsung Hero Awards
During the conference dinner, we will also be acknowledging our Unsung Heroes. The aim of these awards is to recognise and reward individuals or teams who have made significant, ongoing contribution to tackling child sexual exploitation, either through direct interactions with young people, their support of staff within teams or projects or their contributions to an innovative method of working.
