News & Updates
The NWG is currently recruiting for the 2017 – 2018 Youth Advisory Board.

The NWG Network’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB) exists to promote the involvement of young people affected by Child Sexual Exploitation in national decision making and policy. We are looking for a board that will inform the way we run as an organisation, helping to shape our key priorities and informing good practice for professionals. The work of the YAB is disseminated through the network to the 13,000 + professionals.
The NWG Network also works with a range of commissioners such as NHS, Universities, Charities, Government Bodies and Local Authorities to regularly research the needs of young people affected by CSE. For instance in 2015-16, a new Young Persons Awareness campaign was designed, developed and launched by young people for young people, which is being used nationally in partnership with Missing People.
So how can young people you’re working with get involved?
* We are looking for young people aged between 14 – 21 years of age from across the UK who are/have experienced CSE services.
* We would ask young people to make a commitment to attend the following proposed dates through the year;
(Initial Youth Advisary Forum) Saturday the 4th March 2017 11am – 3pm
Saturday the 13th May 2017 11am – 3pm
Saturday the 15th July 2017 11am – 3pm
Saturday the 30th Sep 2017 11am – 3pm
Saturday the 2nd Dec 2017 11am – 3pm
Saturday the 10th Feb 2018 11am – 3pm
* As well as these dates, there may be extra optional forum dates throughout the year, for extra pieces of work that may arise.
What is in it for young people?
* A chance to shape how the NWG Network practices
* An opportunity to inform national responses to Child Sexual Exploitation
* An opportunity to be part of an inspirational Youth Advisory Forum where you can meet people and make new friends
* A chance to develop your team work, planning, presentation and public speaking skills
* The NWG Network covers travel expenses, lunch is provided and at the end of the year we provide young people with a certificate of involvement.
If you or any of your colleagues are working with any young people who you think would be interested in taking part in our Youth Advisory Forum please get in touch for an information pack and application.
If you know young people who would be interested in this work but are unable to contribute in a group work setting at the current time please do still get in touch and we can explore alternative ways of them feeding into this work.
Please note that individual risk assessments will be carried out with young people in advance of the Youth Advisory Board starting to ensure young people are ready & able to participate in this setting.
Deadline for applications is Tuesday the 14th February.
Many Thanks
