Kay Wallace and Steve Baguley from the NWG CSE Response Unit are working with the Centre of Expertise police lead – Paul Burnside to hold regional CSE/A Disruption workshop across England and Wales.

The increased demands on policing, coupled with the reductions in police officers/staff over the past few years appears to have impacted on the effective ability to pro-actively disrupt and prevent all variations of CSE/A activity.

Understanding current practice and the ever-increasing plethora of priorities is vital in understanding what is ‘actually’ taking place.

The NWG CSE Response Unit and the Centre of Expertise aim to identify the following:

* What is working well and what is the impact of the practice?

* Where could practice be improved and how?

The Regional Disruption workshops, commencing in the South West Region on 18th September, will give force areas and crucially frontline staff the opportunity to review and share current disruption practice. This is becoming increasingly crucial, as many areas across the country are looking to tackle and bring together wider exploitation of children and young adults.

This is an opportunity to be involved in supporting police practice around disruption of perpetrators and locations. The NWG CSE Response Unit and The Centre of Expertise will collate all the information and themes, which come from each disruption event and prepare a summary which will be shared with the Home Office.
