South West Disruption workshop                                                   

The NWG and The Centre of Expertise hosted a police and multi-agency disruption workshop in South West region on Tuesday 18^thSeptember 2018.

The agenda consisted of an overview of The Centre of Expertise, The NWG and CSE Response Unit. Followed by an informative input about the roles and responsibilities of the Security Industry Authority.

There were also presentations on 16-18 transition and beyond, adolescent trauma and understanding consent. An overview of disruption tactics for CSE/A was provided including considerations for adult victims. The South West regional co-ordinator for CSE, human trafficking and modern slavery will be preparing a document on local good practice, which will be shared with the attendees and other areas for consideration.

The workshop ended with an inspiring presentation by Safeguarding Analytics, providing opportunities to predict harm. Using the analysis of criminal networks to understand complex networks to inform;

• The ability to effectively prioritise targets
• The identification of new members or new lines of enquiry
• The ability to make predictions
• The identification of disruption opportunities
• An organisational memory

This was the first of many regional workshops across England and Wales, a big thank you to the South West region for hosting this event and thank you to all the attendees who contributed to the discussions during the workshop and the positive feedback you provided.
