NWG Undertake Missing Children Reviews

Posted on

The NWG have recently undertaken a multi agency review of Missing Children in a Local Authority area.

We were approached by a Local Authority to undertake the review. A terms of reference was agreed that highlighted the key areas the review would focus on and how it would be conducted. A number of documents were then requested and sent through to the staff who would be leading on the review.

Two members of NWG team interviewed multi agency staff over a two day period. Verbal feedback was given to strategic leads at the end of the second day and the NWG compiled a full report, which focused on some key recommendations.

The Local Authority area have subsequently developed a service improvement plan, which the NWG will continue to support the implementation of.

Feedback from the Director of Children’s Services was very positive about the impact of the review

” I sat in on the verbal feedback from the Missing  Review and whilst there were a few challenges for us in the learning, it was a very valuable experience indeed. Both Steve and Kev from the NWG coached and challenged staff to be a good as they can be, which has enthused and motivated them. We are now going to draw up an improvement plan based on the recomendations”.

The NWG has further Missing Reviews planned for later in the year.
