Phoenix Project

Posted on

It’s not often that Cheryl and I find our destination with quite as much ease as today, if only it had happened on purpose! After slightly losing our way in the middle of Birmingham we seemed to stumble upon the building that is the host to the Spurgeon’s Phoenix Project, it was a wonderful moment! Still in it’s first year of starting, this project has made leaps and bounds with regards to raising the profile of CSE in local communities by hosting community awareness evenings in all 12 of the wards they work in.

After undertaking a consultation with police, Barnardos and social work the project have decided that their focus will be to work with young people and parents both in family units and separately. The project is still working hard to build relationships with other service providers and referrers and hopes to see a rise in the referrals they receive in the coming months. It was great to a strong link with the local university was proving fruitful with social work students on placement. Definitely a project to watch this space for! Thanks again to Emma and her team for inviting us to visit!
