The NWG Network are delighted to support our colleagues from Staffordshire Police as they launch their #KnowTheSigns of child sexual exploitation (CSE) campaign across the region.  

The campaign which is running from Monday 23^rd September until Sunday 6^th October 2024 aims to help spread awareness of CSE by helping to educate the business sector and the wider community of Staffordshire about what to look for and also how to report any concerns or worries that anyone may have regarding the safety and welfare of any child.  

We are delighted that Staffordshire Police have a much-needed renewed focus on CSE. In recent months, the NWG Network has noted the increased focus of so many agencies on wider forms of child exploitation including county lines and also serious youth violence. All of these crimes against children are important aspects of child protection but with such a media focus on these areas, the disturbing world of child sexual exploitation can often be forgotten about.  

DCI Amy Martin, Staffordshire force lead on CSE is committed to making Staffordshire a “hostile environment” for perpetrators to exploit and abuse children and part of this remit is to help businesses understand their role in tackling child sexual exploitation.  

The NWG Network has a comprehensive suite of resources freely available to download from our website which can support businesses, the food and retail sector, hotels and the nighttime economy, the transport trade, including taxi and private hire vehicles and the public transport network. These resources are designed to help these sectors understand how CSE can affect their business but also how they can help to “spot the signs” and “Say Something if you See Something” to prevent abuse occurring in their communities, places of business and work.
