We are looking for an outstanding and highly motivated Safeguarding Manager to join our Children and Young People Directorate to help us work collaboratively internally across the organisation and externally with our safeguarding partners. You will be an integral part of a small team leading this work and help us to shape our work going forward as we start to implement our strategy. Whilst this post sits within the Children and Young People Directorate, we also want to make sure it isn’t just children and young people who feel safe when taking part as it’s also important that adults do too.

Role Purpose

The Safeguarding Manager will be responsible for leading, developing and supporting specific areas of work / projects relating to safeguarding / duty of care which will seek to help achieve the vision and mission outlined in our Strategy ‘Uniting the Movement’.

The role will involve working internally with other Directorates in Sport England who need expert support and advice regarding safeguarding as well as working with external organisations we partner with and fund.

 

Skills & Experience

Essential

•A good standard of general education (minimum GCSE at Grade C or equivalent in Mathematics and English) or equivalent experience

•A proven knowledge and understanding of safeguarding provision in the sporting sector in England

•A proven ability to strategically manage and influence relationships at a senior level

•Previous experience of working at a senior level in a safeguarding role either locally or nationally

•Significant previous experience of managing excellent relationships with external partners and advocating successfully on behalf of your organisation to influence the delivery of services.

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex messages.

•Politically and commercially sensitive

 

Desirable

•Educated to degree level or relevant vocational qualification in a related field

•Experience of working at a senior level in a community sport environment.

 

Post holders will be required to complete a self – disclosure to assess their suitability to work in the areas of children and young people and adults at risk.
