YEF publishes new Education Practice Guidance

New guidance report for leaders in Education We’re delighted to share with you our latest guidance, Education, children, and violence.   Developed collaboratively with school, college, and alternative provision (AP) leaders, this guidance combines insights from our Toolkit, existing studies and new research, offering a practical what-works guide for education leaders dedicated to reducing children’s involvement in violence.   This guidance also uses the primary research we have conducted, including our evaluation of violence-prevention programmes and largescale surveys with 7,500 teenage children and 9,500 teachers. These include… Recommendation 1: Keep children in education Why? Being in education can protect children from violence. Recommendation 2: Provide children with trusted adults Why? Meaningful relationships with trusted adults can protect children from violence. Recommendation 3: Develop children’s social and emotional skills Why? Effective social and emotional skills can protect children from violence. Recommendation 4: Target efforts at the places and times where violence occurs Why? Violence happens more often in certain places and at certain times. Recommendation 5: Cautiously consider unproven strategies and avoid harmful approaches Why?
