Rise Project (Trafficked Boys & Young Men)
The Rise Project is a specialist service for boys and young men aged 11 to 25 who have been trafficked to the UK. We provide holistic support through: · one-to-one advice and advocacy, to help young people navigate the complex legal systems and to support them to access their full rights and entitlements. As part of our model of working, we also focus on long-term outcomes to improve young people’s emotional and mental well-being and help increase young people’s understanding of risk, safety and healthy relationships to minimise the risk of them being re-trafficked · a fortnightly boys’ group in partnership with ECPAT-UK which includes a mix of issue-based group work as well as outings and activities to reduce isolation, link young people into a wider support network and give them opportunities to enjoy new experiences · awareness-raising workshops for professionals to help them recognise trafficking indicators and identify potentially trafficked young people. We have published a report on the issue of boys and young men who have been trafficked into the UK and who experience sexual exploitation.
It looks at the scale of exploitation and the barriers to it being identified for this particularly vulnerable group, detailing the views of professionals who have a frontline or strategic role in this area. Protect and Respect – NSPCC Croydon Service Centre
This service is based in Croydon and works across south London. ‘Protect and Respect’ offers: one-to-one work with children and young people aged from 11 to 19 years; group work with young men and women; support for parents and carers; a consultation service for professionals; awareness-raising and early intervention groups in schools and residential settings; and multi-agency sexual exploitation training for professionals. New Horizon Youth Centre
New Horizon Youth Centre aims to enable young people to gain skills and knowledge to improve their life chances and to help them move from adolescence into adulthood. They work with some very disadvantaged young people, many of whom have poor self esteem, low confidence, a history of rejection, harm and abuse and often profoundly negative experiences of services. Based in the Kings Cross, Somers Town area of London, the centre sees up to 3000 young people a year and is open seven days a week.

London Youth at Risk (The Children’s Society)
London Youth at Risk has two current projects: Greenwich Missing – working with 13-16 year olds at risk or going missing or running away in Greenwich borough. We deliver 1:1 support work directly to the young people and Family Mediation work to the young person and/or parent/carer, these sessions can be accessed either by the young person only by the parent/carer only or by both parties. We also deliver workshops in schools in Greenwich and Community Events around risks and response with runaways. Greenwich Missing trains young people and adults who live in Greenwich as Community Trainers who then co-facilitate the workshops/events. Safe Choices Leaving Custody & Leaving Care – works with young women at risk of or have committed serious youth violence age 15 – 21years old often affiliated to gangs or groups.
The service is for young women leaving custody or at risk of custody and young women who are leaving care. We work in partnership with nia – ending violence to deliver Safe Choices Practitioner Training which is a 3 day training course and comes at a cost. We work in all London Boroughs with young women leaving custody and in 6 London boroughs for leaving care. The boroughs in 2012-2013 are Lambeth, Southwark, Greenwich, Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest. Each Borough worked in will in addition have a ½ day training course delivered free of charge to pass on our knowledge and skills once we leave the borough. London Youth at Risk specialises in sexual exploitation, missing/runaways and gang affiliation feeding into national consultations and delivering training to professionals.

Jigsaw4u Young Runaways and Child Sexual Exploitation Project
We are a local children’s charity that provides independent return interviews for young people under 18 who have been reported missing to the police and who live in the boroughs of Merton and Sutton. These interviews can lead to individual support, working on the priorities identified by the young person in order to reduce risk. We offer advice and consultation to parents, carers and professionals on the issues these young people are experiencing. We take a multi agency approach, sharing information and working in partnership with the Police and Children’s Social Care to reduce risk.

Camden Child Sexual Exploitation Service
We provide support for young people (male and female) aged 12 to 17 and living in Camden who are experiencing, or are at risk of, sexual exploitation through the provision of one-to-one and group work. Our service aims to build a therapeutic relationship and give young people a safe space and tools to reflect on their experiences using socio-educative approaches. Issues explored may include emotions, healthy and unhealthy relationships, self-esteem, safety, consent, grooming and exploitation, gangs and offending. We are currently commissioned to work with young people assessed as ‘amber’ or ‘red’ using the Camden child sexual exploitation risk assessment tool.

Buddy Me Project, Asphaleia Action
Buddy Me project (BM) funded by Comic Relief aims to reduce the number of trafficked young people falling into the hands of criminal traffickers to be exploited through slavery and prostitution. BM supports trafficking victims, providing eight week intensive buddying to empower “at risk” young people in making the decision not to contact their trafficker and disappear into a life of exploitation. BM provides a flexible programme of intensive buddying and needs related support to trafficked young people (aged 14-19) upon arrival in the UK.

Young Men’s Project Oxfordshire
We help boys and young men who are refugees or migrant workers understand how to make safe choices in their relationships.
Remit area: This service has grown up alongside and works closely with our refugee and migrant work in Oxford and is available to young men who are new to the UK with a focus on unaccompanied asylum seeking children. We work with boys and young men aged 14 – 21 who are involved in, or are at risk of forming unhealthy relationships.
