We aim to support children, young people and families in Essex who are affected by substance use and misuse. To do this we deliver a range of services from early intervention and prevention, harm reduction and recovery focused models, to ensure that young people receive services that are tailored to their needs. Our Safe in Essex project provides awareness and intervention options for children and young people, specifically targeting those who are runaways, persistently absconding from care or truant from education, sexually exploited or engaged in risky sexual behaviour or experiencing domestic or relationship violence. We work directly with young people at risk of and involved in child sexual exploitation and take referrals directly from Essex Police and Social care.

We provide specialist support to children and young people aged 8-24 years who are victims of, or at risk of sexual exploitation across Essex.

Remit area: Children and young people aged 8-24 years who are at risk of sexual exploitation, or have been victims of abuse, in Essex. We also provide advice and guidance for parents and carers. Referrals are accepted from any agency and/or individual working with a child, young person or family. We work with a number of other agencies including the police, youth offending teams, social care, schools and CAHMS, as well as many others.

R.U.Safe? works from the premise that young people under the age of 18 who are being sexually exploited, are being abused. The service aims to reach out to vulnerable young people by providing a Holistic package of care delivered through Assertive outreach, drop-ins and preventative groups/programmes. The service works with young people to promote safety, healthy relationships, reduce risky behaviour, increased self worth and self-esteem, so as to raise their aspirations and enable them into making positive choices for the future.

Our work also involves encouraging and supporting young people in exiting harmful relationships, to which they can fall extremely vulnerable to. Our direct work includes, but not limited to, a range of activities, programmes and opportunities that assist in addressing their diverse and complex needs. We have a client centred approach and each young person will be assessed on their individual circumstances. We work closely with Thames Valley Police so as to provide a service to Young people, aged between 11 to 18 who have returned home after being reported missing. – Young People who have missing episodes are vulnerable to Sexual Exploitation.

With over 30 years of experience, Savana provide information and support services for anyone, from the age of 4 and upwards who have experienced any form of sexual violence whether recently or in the past. This includes rape, sexual assault, domestic violence, ‘honour’ related violence and childhood sexual abuse.

Savana offers clients weekly 50 minute, one to one sessions with a qualified counsellor along with practical support through the Independent Sexual Violence Advice (ISVA) service. ISVA’s work with you to identify your needs and advise on other services available providing advocacy where needed.

The Dawes gangs programme in Wolverhampton uses an ‘end to end’ approach; young people and their families are supported through all the key points of risk in their lives, including points at which they are ready to make changes. Ranging from early intervention to preventing young people from being drawn into gangs, and supporting entrenched gang members to move on and out including through enterprise, the work is delivered in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies, and aims to respond to need and ensure that the right interventions are in place at the right time.
