Clear & Secure CSE ‘Hub & Spoke’ Project
CLEAR (Children Linked to and Experiencing Abusive Relationships) is a unique child centred therapeutic service, working throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, delivering support to Children and Young People (CYP), between 0 – 18 years of age and up to 25 years of age with additional needs, who have been traumatised by either direct experience or witnessing sexual, psychological or emotionally abusive relationships.
In recognition of the needs of C&YP impacted by CSE Clear in 2014 developed Clear & Secure a “Hub and Spoke” specialist CSE service. CLEAR and Secure offers an intervention service for young people and their families affected by CSE; delivering a service that is psychologically informed to understand adolescent development and the impact of trauma. A community youth work model informed by domestic abuse/sexual violence knowledge and skills is used. Formal therapy for young people when they are ready is also accessible through CLEAR. The intervention service is delivered across Cornwall. We also offer direct work with parents/carers using a “strengths” based approach where work is completed alongside the parent while a separate worker works with the Child or Young Person but both cover similar material simultaneously.
Clear & Secure aims to reduce the risk of future exploitation and young people going missing /absconding by delivering interventions supporting recognition and recovery work around experiences of sexual exploitation; plus we provide practical support and advocacy. We also provide bespoke CSE training to schools, local authority and young people services and a range of VCS organisations.
