Investigations Support Unit (ISU) Liverpool City Council
The Investigations Support Unit (ISU) is a social work staffed unit, located within Community Safety at Liverpool City Council. ISU’s role in relation to children & young people who are /at risk of being sexually exploited (SECYP) is to offer an information management service to assist risk reduction in relation to the young person(s) and to assist police colleagues in the identification, investigation and prosecution/disruption of the activities of individuals identified as posing a risk of sexual exploitation to the young person(s). We do not exercise case-management responsibilities but assist in identification of risk (nature, degree) and in devising risk-reduction strategies.

Catch22 Sefton Missing from Home and Child Exploitation Service
The service works with young people under 18-years-old across Sefton who are missing from home or care.
Every three minutes a child runs away from home or care; they could be forced out by their parents or carers, fleeing conflict or abuse in the home.
Missing from home or care
Catch22 works alongside young people, their families and the police to find out what has caused them to run away and prevent them from running away again in the future.
Help is provided for young people who have run away who are at risk of:
- becoming involved in crime to survive, from stealing to criminal gang involvement
- drug and alcohol misuse
- mental and sexual health issues

Catch 22 Pan Cheshire Missing from Home and Sexual Exploitation Service
Catch22 offers a Missing from Home Service and CSE service for young people in the Four Local Authorities within Pan Cheshire, Halton, Warrington, Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester. We also provide a service in Wirral. We provide Case Work, Return Interviews with Children and Young People and Direct Work. All case workers are trained in CSE/Trafficking and Missing. We also provide Local Authorities and Police with detailed data and intelligence.

ENGAGE -Blackburn
Engage is a multi agency group that has been launched to tackle sexual exploitation of young people in Blackburn with . It is the successor to Operation Engage, a police led campaign that ran for two years to work with young and vulnerable people considered to be at risk of being sexually exploited while missing from home. Engage is a multi-agency, co-located team made up of partners from the voluntary and statutory sector that comes together to safeguard children and families at risk of sexual exploitation. The partnership shares three key drivers, Prevention, Protection and Prosecution.

Streetwise Project
Streetwise is a young people’s (under 25’s) project based in the City Centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. Streetwise offers a free, confidential and friendly advice centre and offers information and advice on any issue, sexual health and contraception and they have a free counselling service.

SCARPA Project (Safeguarding Children at Risk Prevention and Action)
SCARPA provides targeted youth support to young people who go missing or are at risk of sexual exploitation. The service is delivered from a base in Newcastle city centre. Our aims are to help young people, be safe from harm, stop going missing, reduce risky behaviours, exit situations of exploitation and achieve positive outcomes. SCARPA also provides add on support for parents where targeted youth support is being offered and where support to parents / carers will increase the chance of successful outcomes and resolution of the issues. Training programmes are also available covering the issues affecting young people who go missing or are involved in sexual exploitation, and risk taking lifestyles.

SCARPA Prevention & Action
Running away or going missing can be a key indicator of child sexual exploitation.
Remit area: Our targeted support is available to children and young people involved in going missing or at risk of sexual exploitation. We carry out “return home interviews” with children and young people who go missing across the North East. The interview is an in-depth conversation with the child or young person. It provides an opportunity to hear about why they went missing and to understand the risks and issues faced while they were missing. Interviews can uncover information to help protect children from the risk of going missing again, from risks they may have been exposed to while missing or from risk factors in their home. This work is in partnership with children’s social care, Local Children’s Safeguarding Boards; Missing Sexually Exploited & Trafficked groups and Northumbria Police. Our advice is available to all professionals or adults that come into contact with children and young people at risk and Referrals can be made by professionals, parents or by children and young people themselves. Our return interview service is available to Local Children’s Safeguarding Boards, councils and police authorities.
